Exploring Addis: Hidden Treasures at the Capital

Due to limited internet access in Ethiopia, I was unable to upload content and photos. I returned Monday evening from Ethiopia. Please give me until the end of the week to upload all the photos and provide you with some reflections. Thanks for following my adventures in Ethiopia. I hope you enjoyed the trip as much as I did!

Diplomatic Mission

Our trip began with visits to cultural landmarks, but now we've transitioned into the academic portion.

We've had a number of meetings at the African Union and US Embassy.

Here are a few pictures. Content to come!

The City of Gondar

Upon arrival in Gondar, we checked into our hotel and ate lunch. After, we visited the castle compound and explored the 17th century castles of Emperor Fasiledas, Yohannes, Eyasu, David, Bakaffa and Queen Mentiwab.

We also visited the bath of Fasildas and the church of Debre Berhan Selassie with famous wall paintings.

The paintings of the disciplines and of Jesus resembled Ethiopian people. The features such as brown skin and long hair reminded me of the natives. These depictions are much different than that portrayed through Eurocentric historiography.

Check them out below and share your thoughts.

About Me

My photo
“I have always known that my life has a much larger purpose. For me, my metric of success won’t be measured by my ‘friends,’ ‘followers,’ or those ‘Linkedin,’ but by my ability to one day build an entity that will not only maximize media platforms to advance global communication but specifically bridge educational and cultural gaps among young people worldwide.”
